Workshops - Descriptions

Dance Workshop

Dance Innovations Performance Company offers a wide variety of workshops featuring an array of dance & music. These exciting programs are the perfect way to introduce students to the world of dance in a “see and do” format. 

Dancing Through the Ages Workshop takes students on a Tour of History from the 1920s through today’s popular styles, with discussions and demonstrations of individual techniques.

Introduction to Jazz teaches traditional jazz techniques, with center and across the floor exercises, utilizing Contemporary and Broadway music, culminating in a short dance routine.

Introduction to Ballet/Lyrical offers a choice of a class in traditional ballet techniques with exercises that teach ballet positions and movements; or a class in Lyrical Dance using Contemporary music with exercises designed to allow each dancer to feel and interpret the lyrics of the song.

Introduction to Musical Theatre explores and teaches music and dances from current Broadway Shows.

An assembly program followed by workshops is also available.

Digital Art

Students are introduced to the creative aspects of Photoshop in these fun and educational workshops with Mark Stankiewicz.

Cityscape - Students use a variety of shape and color tools to build a cityscape. Mark compares the created art to cityscapes by Mondrian and Stuart Davis.
Grades 3-6

Talking Word - Students use Photoshop to create a word image where the image enhances the text and the text enhances the image.  They will learn about Text Options, Filters, Layers, and Effects. For example: the text "Splash" is shown as if it is actually splashing into water. 
Grades 6-12

Felting (Traditional Wet Felting)

In this interesting, fun workshop, students create a simple felt piece using wool fibers, moisture, agitation and pressure. Artist Gail Fishberg will explain the historical roots of this unique fabric and its uses, as the students experience the amazing way colorful fibers transform into a piece of material. A wonderful hands-on learning
