| Bottle Cap Mural |
A very different type of mural that combines recycle, reuse and reduce with art.
Using bottlecaps of all different types, sizes and colors, students will create a lasting piece of art that communicates the message you choose and enhances the atmosphere of your school.
Artist Mark Stankiewicz will work with the school to develop a piece based on a theme - such as anti-bullying, recycle, patriotism, school pride, or remembrance of the graduating class.
He will then help students create a work that reflects this thought, with their hands-on involvement giving them a sense of great pride in the final outcome.
Grades K-12 | | Bully Goats Gruff Anti-Bullying Opera Residency | This 2-3 day residency using music, song and storytelling introduces young children to the hurtfulness and consequences of bullying in a manner that is easy to understand.
Opera singer Yvette Lewis, using her original opera Bully Goats Gruff will lead students to discover ways of dealing with situations without bullying, and how to stand up if someone does bully them.
For older students, writing scenarios will be an integral part of the program, while younger children will orally express themselves.
All students will become part of the Safe Circle Kids Group. A performance will also be included. A second opera, Little Red Hen, can also be incorporated if time allows to illustrate passive bullying.
Grades K-2 | | Character Building Through Storytelling | This 3-10 day residency uses a mix of stories and creative dramatic games to spark interactive discussions about the values that help an individual be a positive force within their community. This residency is customized to fit a school’s goals, and would include such topics as Respect, Tolerance, Responsibility, Trustworthiness and other ethical values. Students will create a definition of each character trait and experience the concept through told narrative, role-playing and personal story. Students enjoy the interaction and creative nature of these workshops, while learning valuable lessons that apply not only to their school community, but life beyond the classroom. Grades K-6 |
