Yoga Residency

Yoga strengthens and relaxes the body, focuses the mind, nurtures self-expression, and builds confidence. An empowerment class, instilling a sense of worth and confidence in students, begins a residency consisting of a minimum of 4 days. Instructor Wendy Messano will then focus on a different theme in each subsequent session that will help participants incorporate what they learn into their lives.

Themes may include: Moods/Emotions; How Can I Relax?; Earth, Air, Or Water; In the Garden; The Deep Blue Sea; The Power of Me! (anti-bullying); Strength, Power, Balance; Good Night’s Sleep; Meditation.

This residency allows students to bring balance into their lives using movement and expression. Participants move at their own pace and grow as they progress.

A Yoga residency is an excellent character-building vehicle and can be used to deliver messages of respect, acceptance and camaraderie. It also teaches control of emotions and promotes a peacefulness of existence, all of which helps to stop bullying and encourage a strong peer community.

Schools may consider having a yoga residency prior to testing days to help students to focus, relax, and give them a better sense of their abilities.
