Jonathan Sprout's American Heroes series of four concerts inspire children with music, visuals, and stories about some of America's most exemplary citizens.
Incorporating original songs from his award-winning albums, Jonathan brings history to life as he conveys the importance of the virtues that make ordinary people extraordinary.
Honesty, respect, responsibility, compassion, self-discipline, perseverance, and generosity are central themes in these dynamic songs that feature remarkable men and women.
This program is a great addition to Social Studies curriculum. It can also enhance your Language Arts curriculum, as Jonathan’s songs are mini-biographies set to music. The Heroes stories can be used to encourage students to write a mini-biography of someone they admire.
There are four different Heroes concerts to choose from:
American Heroes One: features Martin Luther King, Jr., Sacajawea, George Washington, Amelia Earhart, and Abraham Lincoln, along with the uplifting song Heroes, make up this concert.
American Heroes Two: Rave reviews inspired the second concert which features Thomas Edison, Pocahontas, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and Benjamin Franklin.
American Heroes Three: Jonathan’s exuberance shines as he shares his songs and stories about Susan B. Anthony, Orville & Wilbur Wright, Johnny Appleseed, Neil Armstrong, and Sojourner Truth. The concert concludes with the inspiring A Better World.
American Heroes Four: This upbeat lively concert is Jonathan Sprout at his best, featuring original songs about Wilma Rudolph, John Muir, Elizabeth Blackwell, Thomas Jefferson and Milton Hershey. The concert also includes “Good For Me,” a rousing tribute to teachers who are heroes. This concert includes songs from Jonathan's Grammy Award Nominated CD

Vasilisa The Wise (Russia): Known as the "Grandmother of all fairytales." Students will be able to pick out characters and situations they have heard in many of the traditional stories they grew up with! Not many know that it started 2,500 years ago with a brave girl named Vasilisa.
